rebecca brock

Originally from Tennessee, Betty Brock attended Bob Jones University where she met her husband Walt Brock. After their graduation they moved to southern California to teach in a Christian school while Walt taught and served as youth pastor.  During that time while teaching and working with the youth, God burdened Walt for the need of a fundamental Christian camp in southern California. In 1973 they moved with their three children (ages 4, 2, and 4 months) as home missionaries onto a desert property having one block building and a barbed wire fence and started Ironwood, a Christian camp in the high desert of California. God has graciously blessed and taught them much through these last 44 years.

Betty’s responsibilities at Ironwood have been varied—cook, food service supervisor, multi-grade teacher in their academy, bookkeeper, secretary, business office manager, coordinator of women’s retreats, mother/daughter camps, and Women Counseling Women seminars, etc. She now serves in assisting camps involved in the Family of Camps with their business, governmental, and financial setups. She also speaks for women’s groups and teaches at family camps and conferences with her husband.

Walt and Betty have four children and twelve grandchildren and have the opportunity of working with several of them in the camping ministry. She enjoys sewing and machine embroidery, reading and studying, and organization (if that can be called a hobby).
