Mother-Daughter Retreat

We all know the saying, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." It makes sense. None of us try to imitate something that we don't like or think is good. Our kids can be quite different, though. One of the most shocking things for me as a parent is watching my child imitate one of my worst habits. It can be something silly like nail-biting or it can be something much more serious like the inability to control a bad temper. As Christian parents, we want our children to imitate Christ! How does this happen? It happens when they see less of us as parents and more of Christ. It happens when they see that we get joy out of being like Christ. If I am not striving to be like Christ, I can't expect my children to want to be like Christ either. What about you? Are you just "dressing up" like a Christian, or have you allowed Christ to change the person you areā€”not just on the outside, but on the inside, too?
